Workshops
Summer 2024 Workshops
ADVANCED HANDMADE PHOTOBOOK WORKSHOP
offered out of my private photobook studio space, Richmond, Virginia
May 27-31 + virtual meetings prior
This workshop is intentionally kept to a very small group of people in order to allow us to work on larger projects and more complex book structures. Grab one of the few spots in this limited course in which we grapple with the complications and nuances of more expansive personal edits, sequences, designs, and ultimately come together in my book studio to create exceptional, multi-signature, cloth bound artist books. Check out my Instagram for some photos and videos of the exceptional books made last year in this workshop.
(at the time of publishing, there is only one seat remaining in the Advanced Workshop. If it fills and others are interested, I will look into opening another set of dates)
$2500
includes the 5-day in-person intensive, prior virtual meetings, all tools and materials except for your chosen photo paper. I provide coffee and lunch, although you can bring your own too.
Get in touch here if you would like to join us.

THE UNFORESEEN WILDERNESS: NATURE, BOOKBINDING, AND PHOTOGRAPHY
A unique combination of experiences in Acadia National Park, Maine that I’ve been dreaming about and planning for years
June 23 - 30
Join a small group of folks for a seven-day intensive workshop exploring an unusual confluence of interests: bookbinding, photography, and nature walks in one of the most profound places on Earth, Acadia National Park. Tranquility and focus will be our guide as we lodge, work, and explore in Acadia. Together, we will divide our time between thinking about book structures and materials in the classroom, and walking out the back door, into a wonderland of granite, spruce, and sea.
Contact me with any questions. This will be an exciting one, and I suspect will fill quickly!

One on One
Each year, I accept a limited number of mentorships, private workshops, and consultations to help artists accomplish their personal ambitions. These have included mentoring sessions for project development, editing & sequencing photography projects, book design, book binding, and large format photography. Mentorships are customized to meet individual artists' objectives. If you have interest in working together, send me an email to discuss your goals.
The Film Photo Award was launched in January of 2019 as a multifaceted program to help get substantial amounts of professional film into the hands of deserving artists to facilitate important projects. The Film Photo Award aims to celebrate and support artists who demonstrate a serious commitment to the field and are motivated to continue the development of still, film-based photography in the 21st century. If you are a film photographer looking for support for your project, make sure to bookmark www.filmphotoaward.com and follow on Instagram for the most current announcements. Questions can be sent to shoot@filmphotoaward.com.
